Give help to those who need it

The Challenge

The current substance abuse and addiction industry is prone to unethical practices putting vulnerable individuals at risk. An overall leading cause of death among Americans under the age of 50 is drug overdose. This increased influx of individuals needing substance abuse treatment has subsequently triggered a $35 billion industry. Historically, the addiction services and recovery industry has been very unregulated in comparison to other medical and mental health services. This increased demand of recovery and treatment options heightens the risk of fraudulent and deceptive practices.

Mission

The mission of Give Help  is to transform and innovate addiction and mental health services by establishing a set of standards to advance transparency and best practices in the industry. The organization will do so by creating a set of standards to rate substance abuse and mental health facilities, investigating claims of misconduct, and providing publicly facing ratings for facilities.

Programming

The programming of Give Help shall primarily be that of creating transparency, industry-specific best practices and subsequent ratings for treatment facilities. The organization’s board shall curate an advisory committee that shall consist of substance abuse and mental health industry professionals that will build, critique, and reify current practice within the substance abuse and addiction space. These standards will subsequently be used to rate substance abuse and mental health facilities. The organization shall also have a “hot line”, where consumers may report unethical or illegal activities of treatment providers to be investigated by Give Help
